We are incredibly excited to unveil something close to our hearts — a beautiful, hand-illustrated map of Warkworth, Northumberland, specially commissioned from a talented local artist. This isn’t just a map — it’s a celebration of everything that makes Warkworth such a magical place to visit.

When you arrive in Warkworth, you immediately sense you’ve stepped into somewhere timeless. Nestled within a tight meander of the River Coquet, the village seems almost protected by nature itself, with centuries of history woven into its very stones. Our new map captures that spirit perfectly — from the ancient majesty of Warkworth Castle to the winding lanes lined with cosy cottages and colourful gardens.

Each brushstroke brings familiar landmarks to life. The iconic medieval bridge leads you straight into the heart of the village, where you’ll find the historic St. Lawrence Church, standing proudly among pretty Georgian buildings. Follow the cobbled streets to discover hidden gems like independent galleries, traditional pubs, and welcoming tearooms — all lovingly illustrated with warmth and character.

The Burgess Plots, so full of life with their patchwork gardens and greenhouses, are carefully marked, as are community spaces like the Millennium Garden and the cricket club, where local matches bring the village together on sunny weekends. Paths like the River Walk are gently drawn, guiding visitors along the riverbanks where swans drift and herons stand sentinel.

For those who crave the coast, our map shows the way to the nearby golf course and sweeping sandy beaches, perfect for a bracing walk or a moment of seaside tranquillity.

A Love Letter to Local Life

More than a guide, this map is a love letter to Warkworth — its rhythms, its people, its seasons. Every shopfront, every footpath, every corner of green space tells a story. It reminds us that what makes Warkworth special isn’t just its grand castle or picturesque river views; it’s the small, everyday moments — sharing a pint at the Mason’s Arms, exploring a local art gallery, or wandering home from the cricket club as the church bells ring in the distance.

At a time when so much travel information feels generic and digital, we wanted to create something more personal, something crafted by hand, that truly reflects the experience of being here. Supporting local artists and celebrating the authenticity of Warkworth was important to us — and we couldn’t be happier with the result.

Find Your Own Warkworth Story

The map is now proudly displayed in the village, ready to help visitors find their way, discover new favourite spots, and create their own stories. Whether you're staying in one of our holiday lets for a weekend or a month, we hope this map invites you to slow down, explore deeper, and fall in love with Warkworth just like we have.

Next time you’re here, take a moment to pause by the map. Trace your finger along the river, pick a new path to wander, or plan your next pub lunch or castle adventure. Warkworth is waiting — and now, you have the perfect companion to guide you.
